Sad Day in Boston

Monday, April 15, 2013

Today was supposed to be the most exciting day of the spring season in Boston, MA. Today was supposed to be the day that many runners participated in a long time tradition in that city. The Boston Marathon.
Today will now forever be the day that will be remembered as the day that terrorists took the lives of three people and injured countless others, for reasons that no one will ever understand. One of those victims was an eight year old boy. A child in the crowd, probably watching his mom or dad run the marathon.

I'm still stunned at this news. Watching the videos of the fear on the faces of the people there, breaks my heart. And then I thought about SparkPeople and now am wondering if we have friends who were there participating in this marathon. My prayers are flying fast and furious for all involved, regardless where they live, regardless if they were running or just watching.

A friend of mine posted this beautiful prayer on facebook. I want to share it with all of you.

Heavenly Father, I lift up the people who have lost their lives today, and I especially lift up their family members and friends.

Those that passed away have finished the race Lord, and now they have crossed the finish line into your waiting arms. Let them know that they are loved, and let their families know that they will survive this tragic loss, somehow.

God I lift up those who are injured, those who are suffering in pain right now and I pray that you would comfort them. Be with them in the ambulance, in the operating room, in the recovery room, in cold halls of the hospitals. Send angels of mercy to surround them and keep them safe. Guide the hands of the doctors and surgeons, be with the teams of care givers as they race to take on this grizzly task. Please God be with their family members and give them strength, courage and peace. As we run the race of life, let us keep our eyes on the ultimate prize, that being you waiting for us at the finish line. Amen

The 8 year old boy was waiting at the finish line for his dad to finish. The doctor that was 1st upon the scene said his mother's legs had been blown off and she was holding him so tight to protect him but she didn't know he had expired. :( His sister was also injured. What monsters.
This was a family event, there were many kids waiting for their parents or even people pushing strollers. These people wanted to be healthy, and enjoy spring. I feel sick to hear this news.
Prayers to all the people affected by this.. (Who isn't?)

I add my prayers for the victims and their families to yours. I will never understand why terrorists can want to kill people they don't even know. May God comfort the families and the injured. emoticon
