I started my Physio today. We are going to work on strengthening my back, legs and hips. I was there for 1 1/2 hours today but it will be about 1 hour twice a week. I have an added bonus because I take the bus and have to walk to the clinic. I also have to walk back to the bus afterwards. Today that walk was painful and wiggly but I hope as I do more therapy, I get stronger and after the physio , don't hurt quite as much. LOL.

We are starting the G.I. Diet tomorrow. We have been mostly on it all weekend but not completely. Tomorrow we go full on. Since I was told I am borderline Diabetic, I have not had ANY sugar. I lost 2.2 lbs this week and maybe more because I didn't weighin last MOnday and think I likely gained that week. We'll never know.

I am down to 17 cigarettes a day and tomorrow I go to 16. I am doing great at this as well. I am on a mission. I am still monitoring my BP and some days it is in the low 150's/80's not good. When I finally am quit with the cigarettes I expect it to stabilize.

I have not been active on Spark this past week, even after we got up and running. Our DD came for a weekend visit and we went to see DS singing and dancing in the play The Rocky Horror SHow. What a fabulous production. The crew won several awards for the regional awards and he is having a great time. They have been rehearsing since September and learning to dance and all the singing and lines etc. It is such an energetic show. After the play we met friends for dinner out. I have always planned to eat well and then when we go out I go crazy. This time I ordered broiled Tilapia with brown rice infused with black currents and rapine and carrots. I also had some carrot soup. It was all delicious and I felt so proud of myself for being able to enjoy my evening and still stay in range and make good choices.

I have been very busy today and am just getting some down time now. I won't get onto my teams or to talk to friends today, but tomorrow I finally have a free day. i have exercises to do twice a day for physio but after that I am on my own.

I want to thank everyone who commented on my last 2 blogs. I was not able to thanks each of you individually as computer was down but I want you all to know that the suggestions for ways to get on track were so helpful and made me feel so much better.Thank you all.

OH MY ... What wonderful news Gini.
You are such a great inspiration to me, I love the fact that you keep pushing through and when you had the chance to do it right, that you chose to do it right!
Congrats on the Phsyio... adore my physical therapist ... he has kept me moving and building my strength. Stay faithful to the workouts and you will see great changes.
You are doing so great. Take it one day at a time and give yourself time to rest each day.
AND Congratulations on your DS's performance- I love the ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW... used to go the midnight productions all the time (Friday nights at the Oldest theater in town, the movie on in the back ground and local actors and performers on the stag in front.

I am so happy for you!

Gini--good job. And GREAT job on that non-scale victory. Going out and ordering a healthy meal--that's a really hard thing to do.
I'm proud of you!

Gini great news about the cigarettes and the loss of weight. I am really proud of you! And getting that strengthening at the clinic will really help. Stick with it. It will get better.

Better to be active than losing exercise time to SPark. As you adjust, you will be able to
budget your time here. Make the most of your workouts. The benefits will be awesome.

Gini, You are headed in a really good direction and the physio will help you get stronger with less pain. I am happy you and DH will be starting the GI diet tomorrow as it sounds good for both of you. Take each day as it comes and do the best you can. That is a nsv eating out with friends and eating healthy. I don't go out to eat very often but when I do too often I "pig" out and order not very healthy. Good for you for being a success story in progress.

You are off to such a good start. Congrats for NOT going crazy when eating out; this is a problem area for me.

Another suggestion regarding the smoking: try NOT to smoke where you normally do. If you normally light up in the car, don't do it! If you light up with a cup of coffee at the kitchen table, wait and go outside AFTER you have your coffee. If you start to break those associations between cigarettes and places, it will be easier.

Congratulations on all the positive steps you have taken so far. You are on your way, Girlfriend!

Awesome on the eating out!!!! and I too ( re) started physio massage this week for my hips, back and knee. I need a knee replacement and it is putting my back out more than normal and he worked myofascial release technique for an hr. that was over at 1:30 it is 9 pm and so far so good. Now must go do the pyhsi exercises she gave me. hopefully they wont hurt as much adn I will have more flexibility to get down on the floor and have my upper back and head lay on the floor. was too stiff to do it the other day.
HUGS and emoticon emoticon emoticon
