DEADLY EXPLOSION!!

Monday, April 15, 2013

This afternoon, two "devices" exploded, injuring 22, killing at least 2 people at the finish line of the world-famous Boston Marathon. I had turned on my TV to see the results of the run and got this instead.

Boston in my home town!!

Today is a county holiday in Boston, celebrating the battle of Concord and Lexington starting the Revolutionary war. It's also a day when the Boston Red Sox play an early game....I think it started at 11am and Fenway Park is only 5-6 blocks walking distance to the site of this bombing, which means that many of the 40,000 fans leaving the game would probably have walked down to watch the end of the race. I'm surprised that the bombs were not set to go off an hour earlier and get the winners.

Two other devices have been found and detonated at the city's bomb site. (yes, everyone "has" one of them now-a-days.

We all know it is a very sick mind that contrives hideous events like this. Our prayers for the grieving Families. Hopefully the person(s) involved will be duly punished. If not now...definitely later! emoticon

I was in Old Sturbridge Village all day and got the news when we stopped for dinner on the way home. Absolutely horrific. I called one friend who I knew had been there and they are okay. I won't know about the rest until I go back to work tomorrow.

Horrific day! Sad indeed! My daughter was across the street from the blast with friends! Thankfully they are all fine except for being shaken up by the ordeal! Prayers go out to all the victims and their families!

I am horrified by today's event. It breaks my heart that we have to live like this. I hope they will catch them very soon and we can move on, but changed forever. As a New Yorker, we've lived through this before. I hope your family and loved ones are ok.

Hard to say anything about this horrific event - other than I hope they find them and extract every ounce of justice.

I saw an email on FlyLady Email asking for prayers, as the dude who does the training exercises for FlyLady website - Jonathan Roche - was running (and finished before bombs) - so I went looking here because I know there are various Sparkers who run marathons and I'm praying none of them were affected. I have friends who were from Boston that live here in Kansas so am gonna call them. This is the kind of wickedness that descended on us 9-11-2001 .. Praying for all of them!!

I suppose this is something we have to live with now - the ever present danger of some stupid person who is trying to make a point!! Sad!!

Prayers for all concerned, runners, organisers, spectators, Bostonians, emergency services.

I honeymooned in Boston, so it has a special place in my heart.

This runner is sending love from the UK.
