Feeling so devastated...WHY?!!

Shock.

Confusion.

Dismay.

So many feelings as I watch the news about the explosions at the finish area of the Boston Marathon.

Why?

What is wrong in our world that makes a gathering of this sort the target of such hateful actions?

They have announced that the explosions are indeed bombs. I am filled with concern for those involved. I am feeling so much emotional pain.

What can a person say? It is so sad.

    It takes a special kind of evil to do something like that emoticon And as CATANTIGO said the heroism of those people who ran to help was amazing; I'm sure they saved many lives.

    I think the excerpt about the people running toward the scene to help out is the truth. The good people still outweigh the bad. This is not something that will ever make sense. We just need to continue being the 'good people' and helping where we can.

    I didn't hear about it until my husband told me when he got home. I don't watch news after the morning & I don't read news online, either.

One thing I know: you can't make sense from such a senseless tragedy.

    I join in the majority of Americans today who are watching in shock and horror and trying to make some sense of it. It's a crazy, crazy world, but I can only pray for the victims and their families, and hope that the person(s) who did this will be brought to swift justice.

    Here's a portion of a post I read on Facebook. It helped me to frame this incident:

'But here's what I DO know. If it's one person or a HUNDRED people, that number is not even a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a percent of the population on this planet. You watch the videos of the carnage and there are people running TOWARDS the destruction to help out. This is a giant planet and we're lucky to live on it but there are prices and penalties incurred for the daily miracle of existence. One of them is, every once in awhile, the wiring of a tiny sliver of the species gets snarled and they're pointed towards darkness.

But the vast majority stands against that darkness and, like white blood cells attacking a virus, they dilute and weaken and eventually wash away the evil doers and, more importantly, the damage they wreak. This is beyond religion or creed or nation. We would not be here if humanity were inherently evil. We'd have eaten ourselves alive long ago.

So when you spot violence, or bigotry, or intolerance or fear or just garden-variety misogyny, hatred or ignorance, just look it in the eye and think, "The good outnumber you, and we always will.'

    It is so sad and certainly beyond my understanding. I just don't get how people can do something like this. My thoughts are with anyone who is there.

    This is terrible, first high school & college kids, movie goers, elementary kids and now this.
God help us, help our people, take care of those injured, be with those grieving.

    The news is reporting that they were home made bombs, left in bags, near the grand stands ! This is supposed to be a good will sporting event for everyone. Who does this sort of thing ????

I hope my friends are okay. One friend ran last year and opted to skip this year. She is there to clear her boyfriend. He was supposed to come across the line about the time the blasts went off. I hope they're both okay.

Oddly enough, I think this is related to what happened in Newtown, CT. I'll bet some nut case decided they could do better. Some people really are INSANE.

I hope folks are safe !!

    I just saw the headlines and kept rereading them...So awful! Prayers for the people in attendance, the caregivers and the first responders.
