So on Saturday my boyfriend and I went to the newly opened Planet Fitness. We both signed up for the $10.00 per month plan and will be going twice a week until we have a car. Right now we are using my uncles 1979 Ford truck and it gets 4 miles to the gallon. The gym is an 8 mile round trip so we can't afford the gas to go as often as we would like so we will be going every Wednesday and Saturday and going for a 30 minute walk after dinner on the days we don't go to the gym. I think this arrangement is better than not doing anything at all. I just wish we had a car with good gas mileage so we can go more often but one step at a time. When we signed up for the gym on Saturday we got to workout so I did 2.6 miles on the stationary bike, weight training on the weight machines doing 30-50 pounds, and did 1.9 miles on the treadmill. I think it was a good first day back in the gym. I hope working out more will help with losing the last 50 pounds I need to lose.

    congratulations! I just started a new job and a membership at Planet Fitness is one of the benefits. I feel like it is the push I need to start doing weights.

    It nice that you have a workout buddy. 2 day a week is better than nothing. You can always walk around your neighborhood and take advantage of the workouts here on sparkpeople on your off days from the gym.

    Ouch, that truck is a killer! But you are making it work and it sounds like a great plan. I loved my Planet Fitness but it was a little too far for me to travel to within the contraints of my schedule.
