Night Shift isn't working out

Monday, April 15, 2013

I'm SO READY to get back on days. I'm sick and tired of having my days and nights mixed up. So sorry I've been MIA lately.

I emailed the scheduler at my work to see if there were any day shift positions available.

I'm way up on the scale today (139.6) because I ate so poorly last week. I neglected to prep and prepare my lunches for work and ended up snacking on a bunch of patient snack food (chips, cookies, etc). I went for a run the past two days and I'll likely go for a run today too.

Anyhoo... I'll keep you updated!

Also, I'm gonna get a spray tan tomorrow.

WAY up on the scale? Compared to what? Keep things in perspective.

Though I can imagine wanting to get out of working nights no matter what, even though in your work, someone's gotta do it.

This is all temporary. Keep going!

The spray tan will make you look as if you've lost weight. Maybe I should make an appointment...

I gained like crazy when I worked nights. Could NOT control carb cravings at all because I was just so tired all the time.

I hope they put you on days again really soon!!

Night shift is hard. My hublet did it for 2 years and it did a number on his eating habits. but, as soon as he got back on days, everythign righted itself.

I've worked 3rd shift, and I did it as a swing with day shift. What a nightmare! Your body doesn't know when to eat, sleep, poop, w/e...LOL! But, we do what we have to do.
Glad it's just temporary. Hope you're back on days soon and in the meantime, no matter how tired you are, get those fruit bowls and salads made girl!!!!

I hope you can go back to preparing your foods - that makes a big difference, is my experience. I also hope you can soon move to day time work.

I used to hate working the night shift, it really does wreak havoc on other areas of your life. Good luck finding a spot on the day shift!

Night shifts are tough especially when everybody else is working day shifts. I hope that you are able to get back to days. I am certain this will improve your situation.

Night shifts are tough and hard to acclimate to. Once you do though, many folks never want to go back to day shifts. But one has to know their own wants, needs and abilities to justify that backward lifestyle. Keep the faith.

Today is day 1 of getting back on track. Just think of how awesome you'll look in that bikini with a spray tan!

Good luck!

a spray tan could improve your mood a little I am sure.

I couldn't work nights I must admit. Good luck with trying to get a different shift.

I described my 8-1/2 years night shift work reaction as being in a state of terminal jet lag - spent many of my day hours assisting elderly parents (wasn't sleeping anyway). Hope you get back on days.

I hope you get a day shift. I was wondering how long you would be able to keep up the grueling pace. Day shift will no doubt be just as bad as far as the hours go. Trying to sleep during the day is very hard.

Good luck!

Hang in there. I hope it gets better soon. New disciplines are tough to do, but you know what to do! Best of luck and rock that tan! emoticon
