Will I ever be a "Runner"?

Monday, April 15, 2013

I see them out there...jogging, running, looking like they are taking a walk in the park..You know the type. They look as if they are barely sweating or even worse "glistening" . They make running look easy... and here I am...panting like a big foot in the ozarks that just got chased by a group of sasquatch watchers!...Not a pretty site I must say.

I have been trying repeatedly to do the c25k training. There is NOTHING easy about it. Granted Im slightly over..ok ok...way overweight. But running is suppose to help right...but not if I die first! I started wk 2 today..90 sec running, 120 sec walking...sounds easy problem right...tell that to my lungs! ya know the 2 pink things in my chest that threatin my life everytime I try to inhale...Oh and lets not get me going on my hips and ankles...ahhhhh yea running....

However Im on wk 2..which means I finished wk 1...which means sooner or later (more likely later) I will finish wk 2...and I know slowly (I do everthing slowly) but surely I will be jogging more...weighing less. I may always be at war with my 2 pink enemies, but at least Im lapping my past self with every ft or yrd I go.....

So if your in my neck of the woods, and think you hear a yeti, or see a sasquatch...don't be alarmed its just me....practicing being a runner and getting my workout on! emoticon

Each person travels this journey at different rates. When you get frustrated with yourself use it as motivation.

Not everybody is to be a runner & running can be harder on joints than walking. Go at your own pace, or slightly faster, & keep pushing toward your goals.

    You are a runner!

Maybe not the "running is easy weeeeee!" type just yet, but you will be if you keep it up! :)

I'm just one week ahead of you in C25K. It's hard, but we're running! Go us! Have you thought of signing up for a 5k in a few months? I have and it's a great source of motivation.

Keep up the good work!

This is so cute and so true!!!
I walk jog walk jog but a year ago jogged face first into the pavement so I am gunshy.

Can you please tell me more about the challenge that you are doing to improve yourself? Where do I go to find it?

Love your blog, and I want you to know I really admire you for trying to be a runner. I know what you mean about other runners making it look so easy. Myself, I would be happy to just walk the mall for an entire week without my knees killing me. But you know, we do what we can do, and for me its my bike and today I've done over 18 miles on it. Good luck with your training.
