Motivation or Courage?

Monday, April 15, 2013

"You can't start reading the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one."

"Don't expect a change if you don't make one."

Our blog challenge was to write about something that motivates us to resist temptation. The problem I have with this assignment is that I don't resist. Last week we had cookies in our office from one of the best bakeries in town. The woman sitting by me turned it down because she too is trying to lose weight. All I could think about was her willpower as I was eating my cookie.

So is it motivation I need or the courage to actually make a change? Am I willing to put in the work that it is going to take? Is my life dictated by temptations or my reaction to them?

It is time to commit an act of courage.

Courage is not having fear. It IS doing it DESPITE it!. So I would to answerit is how you RESPOND (with thinking) rather then REACT (without thinking). Weigh to Go"

You can do it....we all give in sometimes, just make it once, then once more, etc. It has to become a habit. Maybe you can have something in your drawer that is a healthy snack you can reach for instead of the cookies people bring in. I have Cranberry Almond Thins - they're yummy and crispy, and would be a great alternate to a cookie! They come in individual packs of 3 (I got them at Costco), but you get the idea!

COURAGE - mental or moral strength to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty

Just stating your "faults" as you see them takes Courage. If this journey we are on was not difficult, it would be a joyride instead of a journey.

Today is a new day .....how is today going better than yesterday?

nods... what Dee said... the other day i was thinking why can i choose not to eat sometimes... and other times dive in? motivation... i have lots of reaons i want to... just in the moments... when it's hard, i swear sometimes i do a happy dance when i throw down the towel! LOLOL!

getting started can be hard... but we will.... some of us are just slower coming out the gate or have gotten confuzzled and went back in instead of heading to the finish line.... but we will....

and methinks we ought remember to celebrate when we do get back on a roll again! i so can't wait! trying again tomorrow!

I always love your thought provoking blogs. "Never" and "Always" aren't true. I bet there are times you resist temptations. Start with once and build from there.

You go for it. You can do it. It is just one very little word: "NO".
