Today was a good day! 1800 calories of good eatin'. A bit dairy-heavy but - yum! and very nutrient dense. Why does the modern world make it so challenging to eat like this all the time?! Boy am I ever annoyed that I let school / deadlines / stress stop me from eating this well the past few months.
On the fitness front, I went exploring out behind my apartment this afternoon. I moved in December, and then it was too cold to risk getting lost in the woods, but it turns out there are acres and acres of fields, forests, trails, and bike paths on the other side of the hill behind my apartment. It was a bit creepy for this city-fied girl seeing so much space with so few people (yes, I was carrying both my cell phone and a whistle...gotta be safe!) but it was also extremely refreshing to be in nature, away from cars, scaring up wildlife and burning off some excess energy.
And yesterday I went for a run (well, more of a walk, since it had been about six months since my last run and I had to start C25K from the beginning, but still!) It reminded me of three important facts. 1, running paradoxically makes me more energetic the whole rest of the day; 2, I am a MUCH happier person when the weather is warm and I can spend time outdoors; and 3, sleep is AMAZING the night after a good hard workout!
The weather has only been spring-like here for one week but I'm already feeling more like my old self. Real food and moving around outdoors - I'll take the simple life over complicated diets and gym memberships any day!
