Fourth day of my current exercise streak...Hoora!
Today I am adding "Switched Off Sunday" back into my life! Once done here, I am turning off the computer and not even turning on the television! I am going to putter around my home, possibly read, try some new recipes, call my sister, and work on my room. I'm going to turn on my music and enjoy my beautiful day. It is so serene this morning, I watched the sun come up and head the birds singing.Time to bless my home and myself with a quiet, peaceful, and serenely productive day.
For those who have never heard of Switched Off Sunday, it is the one day of the week when one takes care of oneself by turning off technology for however long one wants (half a day, all day, a couple of hours), and doing something that nurtures you, or something you never seem to have time to get around to. Things like doing some spiritual self care(meditating, study, journal, contemplation, create an altar), getting outside to enjoy the Spring (if it has finally arrived where you are), finally read that book you have been putting off, revive the the tradition of going visiting or call a family member. Try a new recipe or a new hobby, take a nap, have a spa day, do some volunteer work,..the possibilities are endless!
It is truly one of the best gifts we can give ourselves in this technology oriented, frantic, must get it done, no time for anything, world we live in. No wonder time flies by so quickly and we never seem to get anything done. I look back on my childhood with great longing at times. The tv only came on in the evening in our house. My sister and I played hard and with great imagination. We didn't watch TV for hours on end (TV was not geared for children back then...there were a few shows that were, but not nearly as many as today. Certainly no stations soley dedicated to children's programming) We ate dinner as a family and knew no other way. I know this sounds like the "old" days, but I feel as if we have lost SO very much, despite how "easy" technology is supposed to have made our lives.
I am now working on another switched off idea...for a week night, starting with one night a week. One night I stay off the computer and telly, and truly relax after work or just time to get anything done I tend tend to put off because of my addiction to social networking and mindless hours in front of the tv.
So once I sign off here, I will be going on about my day. I may be back tonight...maybe not. I'm going to see what kind of troubke I can get into! *LOL* Today is the first day of my SOS streak! I like that idea!
Have a wonderfully beautiful and blessed day. Be sure to do at least one thing that bring you joy and makes you happy!
Love and hugs,
