The last week has been such a positive one in our home.
On Monday, we went back to Tommy’s oncologist for the results of his latest CT scan. The news was good with no increase in the size of the tumors in his lungs. The only negative that came out of the day (and actually I think Tommy was kind of happy about it) was that he has been trying to shake a bad cough he developed after a cold. His doctor said he has bronchitis and put him on antibiotics. She delayed his chemo treatment for a week so he’ll go back tomorrow to see if he is well enough to resume his treatments.
Later that afternoon, my son, Cliff, took me to the YMCA and we joined together. We each met with a trainer who set up our weight training and cardio plans. We've been almost every day this week and we’re having a great time. The weight training was something that I was missing in my exercise routine, so I’m expecting to see much better results now. I’ve already lost two pounds this week!
I took the day off from exercise yesterday (kind of) and Tommy and I drove up to the mountains to visit my aunt and uncle at their vacation home. Upon our arrival, they announced that they were taking us to Tommy’s favorite restaurant for lunch - Shatley Springs! Anyone from our area knows this is a super popular restaurant in the mountains that serves country cooking. It's really good, but there is no "heart healthy" section on their menu. If you order the "family style" meal they just keep bringing the food until you say stop. Ugh!
We went, but I opted out of the “family style” food and instead ordered a vegetable plate with pinto beans, mashed potatoes (skipped the gravy) and cabbage. I was so happy afterwards that I skipped all the super fatty food and still left having had enough to eat.

After visiting with them for a while, we headed home and stopped by W. Kerr Scott Dam and Reservoir for a short visit. It was a beautiful day and the lake is really pretty. I found a short loop trail (20 minutes) that took me down to the lake. I was happy for the opportunity to get out and walk for a few minutes.
Along the short loop trail down to the lake. I really want to go back here and hike the longer trail.
I hope you are all having a great weekend and getting in some exercise.
