This time around I'm trying to emphasize getting exercIse in fun, playful ways. I love to walk especially with my kids, so I'm going to try to do more of that. I love to hike with my son so we plan on doing more of that. I like to swim. Last summer I bought a bathing suit and swam for the first time in years and it was wonderful. So I'll look for more opportunities for that.

I know someone who makes hula hoops. I just asked her to make one for me and I may have it as soon as this afternoon. I have no idea if I can still hoop (I was pretty good as a kid) but it looks like fun, it involves movement so I'm willing to give it a shot

I've found the book The Unapologetic Fat Girls's Guide to Exercise and Other Incendiary Acts by Hanne Blank to be very inspiring and motivating. I'm going to try to move my body in ways that are fun and healthy without worrying what others think. The hardest will quieting my own inner voice that tells me how awful I look in that bathing suit or how ridiculous someone my age and shape must look trying to hula hoop, dance or jog!

    Ever try Geocaching? It is a fun way to get families involved in hiking activities. Check it out at I am going to try to do that. There are a lot of places in and around Binghamton too!
