Adjusting my WWatchers membership

Saturday, April 13, 2013

I never go to the meetings and started to feel like a junkie. I am not seeing enough results there. I am continuing with the online version but paying 42.95 a month is not affordable for my household without getting results. Just had to express this.. I need ideas to do this without dipping into my monthly income so much....

The only part of Weight Watchers I miss are some of the motivating leaders and member. Then program itself is a marketing tool designed to make members purchase their expensive and unhealthy products. I think it is more realistic to count calories than points. There are many motivating people here on Sparkpeople and Spark Coach is a significantly less expensive alternative to WW. Good luck on your journey! emoticon

    Hey!
You clearly use Spark and take advantage of all the good things it offers. If you need some in-person accountability, maybe find a friend or two who you can meet with weekly and check in and motivate one another...
Just an idea.

I will be here with virtual motivation in the meanwhile emoticon

What part of WW is your favorite, and you can replace that with something else? For instance, is it the accountability? Can you get that here or at home? Is it that you feel as thought points are easier to count vs tracking the calories? Would purchasing the books and doing it the "old fashioned way" be an option for you? It would a one time purchase and you would still be utilizing everything that is offered. I bet you could find the books at a discount somewhere online. I wish that I had more ideas for you, I hope you find something that works for you!

I've never been a fan of WW, but then again I've never been a member. The idea of paying out to WW (or any other program) to lose weight irks me. The diet industry makes billions of dollars off of people who want to lose weight and for some reason that I can't put a word to, I just don't think it's fair.

For me Spark has worked initially, but I've not lost any weight in 19 months. I think my skin needs to catch up (as in shrink back in) and many things have changed for me in the past 19 months too - no more high impact anything because of my back, no more heavy weight lifting either for the same reason. But I am still here, still trying to lose those last 20-30 lbs!
