As much as I look forward to Spring each year, I seriously have my doubts that we are going to see Spring this year. At least, not in the ways that we have seen past springs. Our weather pattern has been dreary to say the least. We've had almost 6 days of rain, not pouring down rain, thankfully, but the kind of rain that reminds me of the local carwash. You know what I mean, don't you? The kind of rain that completely saturates every fiber of your being because it seems to come from all directions. That's because we have not only had rain, but we get the strong winds with it. I really shouldn't complain, because at least we are getting rain and not snow, like so many other Midwestern states are at this time. The Twin Cities receiving as much as 10" in some places is really crazy for this time of year!
So, Mother Nature, what's the next surprise you will have in store for us? I was pleasantly surprised that today, although the skies are pretty well covered with dark gray clouds, there are breaks in those clouds that lead to sunshine, for just a few minutes and so far, no rain today. As I understand it, it's coming though. Wonderful. I could celebrate the rain because of the newly planted grass seed, but the recent downpours we've had have washed away most of the seed and what wasn't washed away, has been eaten by the birds. I guess it's a good thing that I have more seed.
One other question, Mother Nature...what's up with this WIND? We don't have breezes, we have stiff, cold winds from the North, or the West and sometimes even from the South and the East, but always, always, always, these winds are COLD! It's APRIL here, in case no one told you!
Regardless, the dog and I decided to defy Mother Nature this morning and take our 2 mile walk anyway. I bundled up, as much as I didn't want to, and leashed the dog and out the door we went. We walked straight into the face of these 30 mph winds out on our country roads for our mile down the road, then turned around and were quickly whisked back home. I must say, I think we made it in record time with the help of that WIND. Cheeks and chin were pretty rosy when I got home, but it was a WIN for Chloe and me! We took on Mother Nature's challenge and conquered her! And part of our reward, was the opening of the clouds for about 1/2 mile of that walk and pure fresh beautiful sunshine smiling down on us for a while.
Best wishes to all for a beautiful week ahead. Keep Sparking!
