Salt Free Seasonings

Saturday, April 13, 2013

This is the first salt free seasoning I ever made. I made it for my brother right after he had a quadruple bypass in June of 2009. He loved it because food had some flavor again. I used spices he already had in his cabinet so it may sound a little crazy.
Salt Free Creole Seasoning
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
teaspoon Chili powder
teaspoon cumin

Combine in a jar. Cover and shake well. Store tightly covered.

Here's another salt free seasoning I made him. It's an all purpose salt free seasoning.
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 1/2 teaspoons celery flakes
1 teaspoon ground toasted sesame seeds
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Mix together and store in an airtight container. Makes about 3 tablespoons.

Thank you so much! I'm definitely copying and pasting these into my recipe file right now. I'm always looking for seasoning combos to add taste without using salt. I'm gonna try these this week.
