Setting new goals

Saturday, April 13, 2013

Now that the spring is finally here I feel like I'm out of my slump and ready to start focusing on weight loss again. Like I've said before, I made a decision to maintain my weight for a while because I was not feeling inspired or motivated to lose weight and I was feeling happy where I was at the moment. But now, I really want to commit to weight loss again. Summer is on its way and it will be so much easier to exercise outside again and I'm definitely going to take advantage of that! This week I have been working out every day and there is nothing like a brisk morning walk to start your day!

I've been thinking of my goals a lot this week. I am now at 158 lbs like I have been for a few months. I want to get down to 130 lbs and I figured it would be a realistic for me to try and reach that goal by the end of the year. That gives me eight and a half months to lose 38 pounds. I think that's doable, don't you? For the first three months my goal is to lose 4 pounds a month, and then for the last five months I'm only aiming for a 2-pound loss per month. It always gets more difficult to lose weight when you're getting smaller so I think it's only realistic for me not to expect huge losses at that point. Besides, like I've always said, I'm not in a rush. I'd rather lose this weight extremely slowly than lose it in a couple of months and struggle to keep it off. I've now lost 32 pounds since February 2011 and even though it has taken me very long to get here, I've had no problem maintaining my new weight, and I think it's because I really took my time getting to this point.

But like I said, I'm now ready to move on to new challenges. I'm going to keep doing what I did when I lost all that weight before: track my meals and workouts, practice moderation in all things, work out as planned (cardio six days a week, ST five times a week for 20 minutes) and update my blog more regularly. I know I can't do this without your support! So I'm hoping you'll help me get this weight loss started again and reach my next goals! :)

Next goal: 154 lbs by the end of the month! (I will only weigh myself once a month. Last weigh in was 158 lbs). Here we go! I know I can do it! :)

Great goals! And we're at the same point again. Eventually, once I get out of this slump, I'm going to update my tracker. Today's WI was around 153 :/ I would also love to get down to around 130! We can do this together, 20-30 pounds is definitely possible by the end of the year and slower is better. I've learned that over the past few months. Now just to get out of this tricky spot I'm in.

But you totally got this!!

It's totally doable, but maybe not necessary. You carry your weight well and I'm not so sure that 130 is best for your frame. I started back in Feb. of 2012 and lost 40 lbs in 8 months, so it is doable. BUT, even though it was a healthy 1+ lbs per week, it was due to a very strict "diet" and exercise plan. Not that I don't think you can do it, but do you really want to, that's the question. It takes a very serious devotion to stay on track and stay consistent. Sometimes it's not even all that fun. LOL

You have proven that you can maintain, and that is what I have been doing the past 6 months too. So that shows that our bodies are coping with the loss well and that we know how to eat right most the time. So good on both of us. ;-) I too am about to make a new goal, but have been set back a bit with my shoulder injury. I still eat right and now am back to my cardio, but am going to have to modify my ST. Which is OK since my new goal is more just for toning and maybe to lose an extra 5 lbs that seems to still hang around my belly.

Maybe this is what you need to do also. Instead of going for 40 lbs in 8 months, just go for 20 and then do another maintenance period to see how your body responds and to really see if you need more. This is just a thought and I know it's up to you and what you truly want to do, but it may help you to make this a more long lasting life choice than possibly going into a bounce from too much too fast. I do have faith in you though, so do what you think is best and KEEP THE FAITH. You still look AWESOME and you ROCK.

I think this is is very doable. I like that you are in no hurry, I also was a slow loser, so much easier when we don't rush.
With the warmer weather finally here I think everything will fall into place.
I will cheer you on. emoticon emoticon

You go girl! Love the attitude, and the realism! I know you can do it, because you are so level-headed about your goals, and the time it takes to achieve them. I'm struggling with this myself right now, and just reading your blog is helping me to put it all into perspective. Thank you for sharing! And good luck!
