Ugh, what a past few days. It all started when I was going home on Wednesday. On the expressway, get the speed up to 65 and it feels like the wheels are coming off my car. Luckily it was not that and while I slowed way down things seemed fine.
So went on to dance recital practice then to the gym. I get on the recumbent bike at the gym and get started. Sweat just starts rolling off me and once I get some load on the pedals and I am starting to work, I watch my heart rate climb through the roof. Almost to my max! So I try to struggle on for a bit but finally call it a wrap after 20 minutes. Go sweat some in the sauna and think about what is up.
I think that I went 4 days in a row and the last time I did that it was not a pretty picture and even though I had a day off on Tuesday, I had been feeling a little blah so maybe a few more days off may be in order. Between regular workouts and an extra long outdoor ride on Saturday followed with a 2 mile walk I think my body was saying slow down. So, I am listening and taking off till Saturday.
So, I am also thinking about the SUV and what the heck that all might be. So I take it to a local shop. They check it out. They call. My front tires are out of round. That is causing all the nasty vibration. Need 2 new tires. Also, while we were looking you need both upper and lower ball joints. Outer Tie rod ends. New wheel bearings. Oh gee, is that all? What is a ball park figure. $2500. WTF??? Ummm, I need to think about this. Do I want to do this or shop around? How long do I have before the whole front end of the car falls off, I ask? I would do it sooner rather than later. Címon. I know they donít have a crystal ball, but they are supposed to be professional mechanics. You canít give some time estimate on this?
So, on a lark I go to Autozoneís website. Start pricing it all out. Holy crap, the parts are only going to run me $400 if I bought them. What the heck is the markup on this stuff and labor? My God do they think cause I work downtown I am a gazillionaire? Good Lord.
The good news is while I havenít been to the gym, I have been watching my diet which is a good sign. Normally I get news like this and scarf down the nearest bag of chips followed closely by a candy bar or 3. So, I must be making progress.
Well, wish me luck tonight at that dance recital. The way this is going, I may end up in a cast yet.
