I know from time to time life puts road blocks in our way. Now the question is how to over come them and get back on track! Chalene Johnson always says she does not schedule rest days because life will do that for her and at first I thought she was talking out the side of her mouth but you know what it really is true. When life gets in the way and I cannot complete my workout or eat a healthy meal I have planned I used to get so bent out of shape and spiral out of control. However I take it in stride now and tell myself this too shall pass and I will get back on track with the next meal or next day whichever is the case. So here is my advice when life gets in the way:
Don’t dwell on it just go with it. Stress over it is just going to cause your body to produce Cortisol which means holding on to fat…YUCK!
Shake and laugh it off…everyone looks better when they are smiling
Give your attention to whatever caused you to get temporarily derailed. Your workout or meal will be there tomorrow.
Find something positive to focus on about the situation…don’t see the glass half empty instead look at it as half full.
This is not the end of the world and enjoy the break
Listen to some upbeat music
If missing the workout really bothers you that much make up the next day (Okay confession time…I am one of those that it bothers to no end when I miss a workout so I do have to make it up the next day…I am working on it)
I know some of these are easier said than done but just try to not get all bent out of shape when your life gets derailed for a moment or two. You will be stronger and even more committed when you are able to get back into it. i hope this was helpful for you!
