BLC Week 4

Thursday, April 11, 2013

Week four was pretty good considering I was back to work full time this week. I work as a casual care aide, which basically means I sometimes don't know what my shifts will be until they call at 6:00 am and say can you work at 7:00. The upside of being a casual is that I can say no emoticon Last Fri. through Mon. I worked 7:00 am to 6:15 pm which made it impossible to get two walks a day in. Before the first shift I got up at 5:00am and headed out the door, but it was REALLY dark and foggy so I walked 20 minutes and said I'm not doing that again till the sun wakes up a little earlier. After working on my feet for such a long day I had to force myself out the door for an evening walk which I did once then my hubby came home and took over dog walking duties.

I didn't lose my pound this week but came close .8 I'm okay with that I'm still ahead of my challenge goal.

I tracked everything.

Strength training is still a struggle but I ordered a Spark People fitness video so I'm hoping that will motivate me.

I committed to the challenge although I never did figure out how to add up my points emoticon

I'm looking forward to week five I like the challenge a lot it encourages me to get in the stretch exercises that my physiotherapist prescribed in a really easy manner. I tend to embrace the challenges I like better then the ones I'm so so about...go figure

The results of my forth week:
I have 5 goals

1. Lose a pound a week
2. Track emoticon
3.Walk everyday
4. Strength Train 2-3 times per week...did 1
5. Commit to the challenges emoticon

I'm the opposite. I have more trouble getting myself to do cardio than I do with strength training. I feel like I see the results of the strength training quicker than I do the cardio.

It's really inspiring hearing about how you fit your walks in! You're doing a great job.

I used to be a substitute teacher (casual teacher? LOL), so, believe me, I know what it's like to be "on call". I'm not sure what exercises you are able to do, but The FIRM has some great strength training DVDs. Also, I suggest using a resistance band and weighted hand balls. Eventually, you can work your way up to using a weighted bar, dumbbells, kettlebells and medicine balls.
