I knew at the beginning of the challenge that it would be a miracle to achieve the goals set for me by my fitness center. Most of the fitness center members that I know started the challenge on January 1 and I didn't start until February 1. I have not heard of ONE PERSON achieving the goals set for them by the fitness center. It might have been nice for the fitness center to have offered practical ways to work toward the goals, like establishing a strategy for success. Most of my fitness center friends have been turned off by the challenge and the lack of moral support by the fitness center. I am not letting not achieving this challenge deter me from my long-term goal of losing weight and getting healthy and fit. I'm still moving in the right direction.
With 3 weeks remaining, I still have 15 pounds to go and I'm not sure if I have lost any of the body fat %. I will have to wait to get on the body fat machine to see what it says at the end of the challenge. I don't think it's reasonable for me to lose 15 pounds unless I take some sort of drastic measure which probably would not be long-term healthy or productive for me.
Some pluses during the 90 days so far:
+ I have stayed on track with C25K program. I'm in week 7 and am amazed and astonished that I am actually jogging 25 minutes straight. In the early weeks of C25K, I was DYING trying to jog 3 minutes. Today, I jogged 2.5 miles in 35 minutes and that was after 3 hours of heavy lifting and moving 3200 books from one room to another on a job. Some of the C25K weeks took me more than 1 week to achieve the goal of that week's schedule (Week 4 and Week 6), but I'm encouraged.
+I've been better about drinking 8 cups of water daily.
+I've started spinning and surprised myself that I completed the 60 minute class. My crotch was KILLING me (that's a story for another day) when I was through, but I did it. I have since purchased a pair of gel shorts and have enjoyed a couple more spin classes.
+I've lost 12 pounds and have received some compliments from other people. I haven't really noticed it in my clothes (must be losing it all in my face) yet.
-I have swam 17 miles since January 1
-I havent' been consistent with the strength training. I need some help here.
-I wasn't as consistent as I wanted to be in working out during some weeks. I let the crush of life take control.
Enough with the negatives. I press on toward my goal of losing 35 pounds in 2013, jogging an entire 5K, and getting stronger and healhier.
So, wish me well as I work toward a strong finish in the last 3 weeks of the 90 challenge. Slow but sure......
