First Surgery

Thursday, April 11, 2013

So I had my gallbladder removed on Wednesday and I am recovering. I'm trying to keep my fluids up, but I'm still not in a hurry to eat. but I have to get there eventually. I have had some chicken broth and a piece of bread. If anyone has had surgery before fill me in on what to do.

my boyfriend is taking good care of me and my aunt and uncle are taking me to their house this weekend so i'm not alone. I'm trying to get up and move every few hours, but I feel awful.

glad you're surgery is out of the way, the recovery has got to be the hardest part though, it just takes patience and time. Listen to your body and heed all the medical advice you've been given - hope you're back to rights very soon! Glad to hear that you're been taken care of by your loved ones, will hopefully make the time pass quicker too than struggling on alone :))

    Take good care of yourself!

Just do what you can. Don't push it! After my surgery I tried to do way too much way too fast and I paid for it. You are doing awesome so far. Take care of yourself.

Listen to your body and your stomach. Maybe try a low fat smoothie but watch fat intake still for awhile. Definitely get up at least every few hours if not every hour during the day and walk around. It will take a few days but all of a sudden you will feel much more normal. However, be careful when you do not to overdo with lifting and such. Both DH and I had our gallbladders out as well as a few other family members. I was the only one that was an emergency removal and had the longest recovery. The others were feeling much more normal by the 5th day or so.

Good Luck and Take care of you!

Never had your surgery but personally I would eat what you can like broth and toast to start. Beverages too but follow Dr's orders too! Feel better. emoticon
