I was on my way to the gym and walked by my favorite restaurant... They had a sign out that they were serving carrot ginger soup today and my feet just took me inside. They don't always have this soup on the menu, but it is super delicious (and low fat). So, my workout got hijacked by a big bowl of soup. Oh well. After eating I did go for a brisk walk on a new route that I have been meaning to try. Not a lot of sidewalks out that way, but it would add about 4 miles to my loop around the village. If I walk the whole loop it would be about 16 miles. The next nice day I am going to walk the entire loop. It was just too cold and wet for me to try it today. It was all of 36 degrees today and spitting rain. Not my preferred conditions for a long walk. When I got home I stopped in the basement of my apartment building and pedaled over 9 miles. Add in three dog walks and my mileage total ends about the same as if I had gone to the gym. My hands got pretty chilled out walking. For some reason my fingers get cold fast, and start to hurt. I have arthritis in my feet, maybe I have a touch in my hands as well. A question for my next Dr appointment.
The dog seems to be doing fine with the shorter walks the past couple days, but I will take him out for a good long walk on our next nice day. He does best with about 10 miles of walking each day. It keeps him calm and well behaved, and keeps me moving. Adopting my Cooper dog was a stroke of genius on my part. LOL!!
