This weeks challenge is to post in a blog about our new recipes for the week....the four new healthy recipes that we cook for ourselves and loved ones. I made an wonderful curry last night...and on this momentum turned to two other recipes.
The first one was a 'healthy' french onion soup (since I have a cupboard full of onions requiring using). Im going to be honest, Im pretty sure it was healthy, full of vegies and of course low n calories, but lets just say Im going to stick with my usual french onion soup. Why? Well first of all the flavor wasnt that great, I really just dont think I could stomach it too often...and it was so lacking in anything substantial that I ended up eating twice the calories in the meal because i finished the bowl and thought, well im still ravenous....
On a plus note, I thought I would try making a healthy 'treat' as well...so I found a recipe for apple, caramel and oatmeal biscuits. 85 cal per biscuit, and they are respectable sized ones too, not those ones that are calorie conscious because they are smaller than a 5c coin. When I was making the recipe I had my doubts, but one batch cooked and a nice warm cookie consumed, and really I think they are going in my standard book of recipe clippings. They are a little sweet and Id probably cut back on the sugar, but all in all a surprising success. IVe included the link in case anyone is interested...
