Thought and Prayer for Thursday, April 11, 2013

Thursday, April 11, 2013

So many times we get down and discouraged about things going on in our lives. Many times when this happens, we reach out for help. We look for that quick fix to get us to a better place when that quick fix isn’t always the answer. We can’t escape hard times but we can have a friend who encourages us when we are down. A friend who encourages is one who is doing what God has called them to do. We can be that friend to others as well. Let’s look for someone who needs encouraging today.

Romans 15:2 “We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, sometimes we don’t always see the obvious directly in front of us. Help us today Lord to look past ourselves and see which of our friends is in need. Help us to know which of our friends is struggling. Help us to put our desires aside and make a decision to be an encouraging friend to them today. Help us find the words to say or the actions today that is according to Your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

When we take time to encourage a friend, we are taking time for the Lord.

God wants us to be encouraging friends building others up rather than tearing them down.

There are people in need everywhere. Sometimes all the need is an encouraging friend to help them move on.

Friends who take time to encourage others and seek opportunities to help them are true godly friends.

Hearing of a friend in need and not taking time to help or encourage them is a sin.

James 4:17 “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.” (NLT)
