I'll get there. I'm at day 16/30 of the no soda challenge and it's going well. I tried a little sip of DJ's at lunch the other day, and it was gross. I think I've even got DJ on the no soda bandwagon too...I gave him an article to read about BVO, and I think it hit home. BVO is this nasty compound that's been linked to birth defects and a whole lot of other terrible things. Considering that we want to have a baby within the next three to five years or so, I think Mountain Dew, at the very least, is off the table. I'm hoping that he'll shun the other sodas too, but I'll take baby steps if it gets the same result.
Next up: cutting back on my coffee. This will be hard. I'd like to say I can go cold turkey, but that's unrealistic to me. I can cut back on the size of my coffee though. I currently drink a medium iced coffee with extra cream and sugar in it, at least once a week. (DD Mint Chocolate Chip, is actually their Peppermint Mocha flavor that they 'retired' after the holidays-I LOVE it). There isn't any good reason for me to be getting extra cream and sugar though. I can cut that down to skim milk and no added sugar-believe, me it's sweet enough without it. But we'll see how I do with the next 14 days of no soda.
It must be working though cause I weighed myself and have lost three pounds since the middle of March. Yay! Can't wait to see what I weigh in a month.
