On March 31st I joined a new challenge group called the Bibbulmun Track Virtual Challenge. It's hosted through Team ~Indygirl by EMMABE1. Each member has chosen a personal step and exercise goal for the week. Then EMMABE1 writes up a description, complete with pictures and youtube videos, of where we're walking for that week.
It's been fascinating to learn about the Bibbulmun Track. This trail winds down the southwestern coast of Australia. It's over 600 miles long and takes about 6 weeks to hike. Here's a short video on the trail if you'd like a peek:
Being a part of this challenge has already had quite an impact on me.
First, many of the members have limited mobility. They're using whatever form of exercise that works for them and translating it into a step goal. Inspiring!!
Second, because of this challenge I've added in a walk to run program that's including my kids. If I gain nothing else from this experience, I will count it a success because of this one change.
Third, reading through the trail descriptions each day is giving me a hunger to hike my local trails. I live in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. We have good trails here and I am eager to get out there and use them!
So I leave you with a picture of the Bibbulmun Track. Where does it lead? I'ts led to good places so far. I'm sure it will only get better!
