Ordered The Spark Solution & Streak Day 24 & Another Streak Started

Yesterday I read INDYGIRL'S blog/book review about The Spark Solution. It got my interest so I placed my pre-order with Amazon. $20.95US with postage, and I get some gifts - 2 Full-Length DVDs: Cardio Blast and Fit, Firm, and Fired Up with Coach Nicole AND 3 Months Access to SparkCoach AND 500 SparkPoints.

I did SparkCoach August - December. There was a free period (don't remember how long) and then I paid for it till my credit card expired in November. I am not sure I got that much out of it. Often the Daily Visualization assignments repeated from the previous day, and I was not always in a wifi zone and able to use it.

When I struggle to maintain a good habit, I remember 'Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keep you going' and consider myself on autopilot. Just do it anyway! Today is Day 24 of Nutrition Tracking. Yes it is easy now!

While I am walking or doing some other form of exercise I want to think about 'To Lose 20 Pounds, Torch 70,000 Calories'. That is a very big number! But I will remember the big picture. The easiest way to lose weight is what I eat - restricting calories, and I can't lose ground by over eating. Over time I will increase my exercise and that will help torch 70,000 calories.

Quick List - Things I am Doing Right

1 nutrition track
2 spend more time with friends
3 stay within my calorie range most days
4 weekly weigh in
5 bedtime 10 PM
6 blog a few times a week
7 no popcorn at movies or home
8 eat breakfast
9 have protein with snack

Adding -

10 mindful eating - sitting at the table with no distractions for meals
11 rise before 7 AM
12 try new things - went to park at ocean, tried TV yoga

These are things I have already been doing for more than 3 weeks.

I am starting a new streak - daily dog walk. Today - Day 2!

    Lynn - I preordered the book too. Mainly to get the free DVD's I also did SparkCoach free last fall. I haven't really seen the advantage of paying for it over regular Spark People. But since I got it free with the pre-order I am doing it again - plus I get 25 extra points a day:).

    Autopilot hits the nail on the head. It's great when we get to that point and wonderful if we can keep in that zone. Good luck with your new challenges. Your dog must be happy!

I like 3-1000cal days and 1-1500 cal day, that seems like its working.

    You are awesome!! Doing so well!! Glad for the mindful eating challenge, although I have been horrible at it. Committing to breakfasts at the kitchen table and going to work my way up from there!!

    You also need to be careful not to under-eat. It's OK for a few days in a row, if you are attempting to create a calorie deficit.

But, be sure you eat "enough" at least once every 3-4 days. (My "enough" days were Wednesdays and Sundays. If I chose to go hungry on other days, it was OK.) Eating "enough" keeps your body out of starvation mode, so your body doesn't hang on to calories.

    Great list of things you are doing right! I like the ones you are adding too. Building healthy habits and congratulating yourself for the ones you already have nailed is the key to a happy, healthy life!

    You are doing great! I read ON2VICTORY's review of the book and like the NEAT concept. It's something they covered on SparkCoach and it makes sense to me and is something I can implement. You are doing it by adding a dog walk to your day.

You are building great habits, and enumerating them has to let you know that you are getting stronger, healthier, and more focused! Way to go, girl!

    I love how you're adding things a little at a time. That's a great idea! I will need to do that with strength training soon, because I haven't started that yet.

I'm glad that tracking is getting easier for you. Once you have that down, the rest is like you said, habit!
