Okay, so I totally forgot to add something to yesterdays list of hints, tips and tricks for the journey to weight loss.
In fact, this might actually be one of the most useful ones I have!
11- Like most people who are still fairly new at an exercise program, that moment before you get up off your lazy butt, leave the comfortable couch and get moving? That moment when you are coming up with one million excuses as to why you shouldn't work out? Or promising that you'll do it tomorrow? Well, I have found out a trick that helps me get through the door almost every time! I set my egg time (or oven timer, or stop watch, or whatever) for 1 minute. For that whole minute, I let myself be a whiny and complaining child who doesn't want to do something. I am allowed to bitch, moan, complain, stomp my feet, etc about how much I don't want to exercise. Once that timer goes off; that's it. I'm not allowed to say one more negative thing. I put on my shoes, my coat and my headphones and walk out the door.
For some reason, I find this really effective... It's almost like my body has to go back to the habit I used to have of complaining about exercise. Once I let myself do that, it's out of my system and I move on. This might not be for you, but if you are the kind of person who makes a lot of excuses about working out, or you have trouble getting motivated, I hope you give it a try. You might be surprised! :-D
