Maintenance Week 58

Maintenance week 58:

I’ve been off the birth control pills for a week now--of course it is the same week I would have been off anyway before beginning a new pack, but I think psychologically it is making me feel better. My health care professional has started me on 10 mg of Prozac per day to tackle my mood symptoms now instead, since the first option I chose was not doing a good job of controlling my symptoms, and I had gained and maintained 5 pounds over the past 3 months. My weight is now down 2 pounds in the last week. In part, I’m sure, to the beautiful weather we have been having and the resulting outdoor activity I have been getting in.

I am not having much trouble with insomnia (a possible side effect of the new med), and it is definitely not making me drowsy, so taking it in the morning is working well. I have found, however, that if I have ANY caffeine during the day, it does keep me awake at night, so I have eliminated the coffee and tea that I was having from time to time. I am fine with just plain water anyway, and I enjoy herbal tea from time to time--the decaf coffee at Panera is really good though too, I just have to remember not to reach for the regular when I go there from now on.

I am really liking using the Active Link Activity monitor I got at my WW meeting location a few weeks back. I really liked the pedometer that I have too--I just quit wearing it for a while, because I was so attached to it. The new monitor is more active for all activity--not just walking.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know this new toy and seeing how it motivates me to move more! Since I’ve recently dropped two of the five pounds I’d gained since the beginning of January, I’m pretty excited.

I heart heart heart my Active Link monitor. I wear it EVERY day and have been known to drive 8 miles back home to get it on one of the few days I forgot to wear it.

I've always thought of myself as 'active' because I go to the gym 4 times a week and have for decades. But I hadn't realized how long the stretches of inactivity were between one gym visit and the next. Now I make sure I get morning walks, afternoon walks and at my job - (Library Director) I now work one hour a day, either at the circulation desk or working in the shelves. An hour of standing in the middle of the day is amazingly good for a sit-at-a-desk person.

Hope all your internal chemistry settles down and you fly through spring time on a happy healthy sunbeam!

emoticon on dropping 2lbs!! That is great! I know those other 3 will be gone soon too, just keep at it!

The warm weather truly makes a big difference!! I've heard several people say how motivating the Active Link is for making you want to be more active, so that is great!

Hello - nice to see that you have some positive changes! Giving up coffee sounds tough (for me, glad it isn't for you!) so it is nice that you found the decaf.

    Congratualtions! emoticon

I'm impressed with all you are doing to maintain your fitness. I used to work out daily, and never dreamed I would ever give it up, but life, work, and graduate school got in the way. Now I need to get the habit back.
Thank you for the inspiration. I hit a plateau, so I'm trying to review everything. Do you have any advice?
