Maintenance week 58:
I’ve been off the birth control pills for a week now--of course it is the same week I would have been off anyway before beginning a new pack, but I think psychologically it is making me feel better. My health care professional has started me on 10 mg of Prozac per day to tackle my mood symptoms now instead, since the first option I chose was not doing a good job of controlling my symptoms, and I had gained and maintained 5 pounds over the past 3 months. My weight is now down 2 pounds in the last week. In part, I’m sure, to the beautiful weather we have been having and the resulting outdoor activity I have been getting in.
I am not having much trouble with insomnia (a possible side effect of the new med), and it is definitely not making me drowsy, so taking it in the morning is working well. I have found, however, that if I have ANY caffeine during the day, it does keep me awake at night, so I have eliminated the coffee and tea that I was having from time to time. I am fine with just plain water anyway, and I enjoy herbal tea from time to time--the decaf coffee at Panera is really good though too, I just have to remember not to reach for the regular when I go there from now on.
I am really liking using the Active Link Activity monitor I got at my WW meeting location a few weeks back. I really liked the pedometer that I have too--I just quit wearing it for a while, because I was so attached to it. The new monitor is more active for all activity--not just walking.
I’m really looking forward to getting to know this new toy and seeing how it motivates me to move more! Since I’ve recently dropped two of the five pounds I’d gained since the beginning of January, I’m pretty excited.
