When I signed up, I didn't think I would have this much fun, frustration and pain...all rolled up in one!
All in all...it was a blast. There was a moment (which will remain nameless...ahem...13.3) when I didn't display the most sportsman-like behavior (but I wasn't alone! Lol). But for the most part, I was on my best behavior. };->
So for the fun part....my final standings!
Drum roll, please.......in the Masters Women 45-49 bracket........
In the North East Region....173 (out of 360 who started the Open)
Worldwide....1,245 (out of 2,362)
I made my goal of placing in the top 200 in my region. Yeah!
I surprised myself...UNDERSTATEMENT ALERT (if I was computer-savvy, these words would be flashing in neon colors!)!!!
These standings do not mean that I am more fit than anyone else who competed...far from it. All these numbers tell me is that I have made tremendous progress in my overall fitness in the last 2 years! I've come a long way!
Now looking forward to next year's Open...yes, I'm planning to do this again...God willing.
New goal...finish in the top 100.
Pete read my mind (he has an uncanny way of doing that!). The first words out of his mouth the day after we completed 13.5 was...
"Today is the 1st day of training for the 2014 Open" .... as he looked directly at me.
I'm a little afraid....more like scared crapless! :-)
But also can't wait to get started. This should be an interesting year!
