The Secret That Isn't

I searched for years for the secret to weight loss. I wasn't to find it, because there isn't one.
Sparkpeople has a wealth of information about how to make our fitness plan work for us. We must have a calorie deficit to lose, and we can do that through consuming less calories, exercise, or both. I have become quite the advocate of increased exercise, because I DO like to eat!
I believe a moderate approach is best for me if I want to accomplish my bigger goal of being as fit as I can be for my age. I cannot extremely limit my calorie intake, or I will crave more food. When I tried different "diets" that limited any one food group, I would only crave that food group and that made it worse. If I want something, I practice the "have a bit" approach or "I can have some tomorrow" approach if I have already reached my limits for the present day.
When I began Sparkpeople, I could barely walk to the end of the street, but over time, I have learned that walking is a very good practice for me, both in a physical and a mental sense. I have to MAKE myself take a break once in a while - because ultimately I need moderation in that as well.
Moderation, in both nutrition and fitness, is what works for me...that's my secret that isn't a secret.
