(This is the positive event for Monday, 8th April, and forms part of my 2nd 21 day positivity challenge.)
While at my part-time gig at Uni yesterday, the vice-chair of my department called me into her office to discuss scheduling for next year. She enthusiastically thanked me for the course proposals I had written up and sent her a few weeks ago for the proposed masters degree program before informing me that they would like to increase my hours for the next academic year. I currently teach one four-credit class per semester; they would like me to teach a total of 12 credits per year and perhaps take on new responsibilities in the teacher training program.
This made me feel very strongly that they value my work as a teaching professional and are eager to count on me in the future. I also makes me feel very positive about the possibility of transitioning from part-time to full-time at university, and taking a leave of absence from my current position at the community center. This positive event also helps me stay motivated to finish my current research project and my thesis so that I am ready if/when a full-time job opportunity does arise.
