swollen legs and feet

Monday, April 08, 2013

I need to figure out what I did or didn't do to get this amount of swelling in my legs.
I may have eaten more salt than usual, I did have kraut (from a can) with my pork roast. That may be where some of it came from.
I've been really careful about adding salt or eating salty foods the last two years.
I know that I should be able to look at sodium in my daily intake.
So, I'm doing what I can to reduce the swelling and I think I'll be okay tomorrow morning.
I welcome any thoughts you have.

I'm reading Richard Bernstein MD "THE DIABETES SOLUTION" and I'm staying away from sugar/starches since they make my feet swell. Doing better now.

Yeah, I think it was prob the Kraut. The sodium no doubt was high, and your body after two years of watching the sodium, just didn't know what to do with it?

Sorry to hear about your leg/feet swelling issues - not much worse than having very sore/painful feet. It makes getting around a real challenge.
I hope you feel better as this week goes on!

Sorry to hear about your swelling. Hope you can figure out what's causing it, and you feel better soon. My ankles & legs tend to swell. I usually get them up for a bit in the afternoon which helps.

My left leg and foot swell up a lot. The doctors do not know what caused it. I noticed when I lay down and keep the left leg elevated the swelling goes down. I have noticed that if I eat salty foods which I do not do often the swelling gets worse. So I really do not know what to tell you.

When I was still having TOM, I could swell and gain 10# over that time.
Even yet, occasionally, I will swell after eating something salty.
Could this possibilty be the cause?

That has a lot of salt in them and also being on the feet too long with sometimes do that too. You may need to drink more water to flush out the salt.

My left foot swells up sometimes. Some docs believe it is related to fibro. I don't know. I track my sodium, get tested for diabetes, have regular blood work done. No answer for you on that.

My foot gear consists of several pair of slippers. I'll have to send you a pair.

Hope they're better by morning. Oh - I soak in a footbath of epsom salts. That helps some.
