some words about who I am, and why I do this video!
Hello everyone! My name is Kiki ,and I have been a member of sp for 3 months, and this is my first video blog in my attempt to boost my motivation. It is the very first time I make a public video of my self and as you can see I am quite self-conscious about it and very awkward, but at the same time I am proud of going through with it! I want to apologize for my English! I know that my pronunciation especially, my grammar, my syntax... I know that they are not food...! But I told myself I would do this no matter what, so to anyone that is watching me : "Thank you for your understanding"
So, I am 26 years old, I am from Greece, and I study medicine. I joined sparkpeople 3 months ago and my goal is to lose 12 kilos (26 pounds). So I don't have too much to lose which is great, but on the downside the calorie range in order to lose weight must be between 1200-1550 which is rather low :(
The first 2 months since I joined sparkpeople, I had exams in the university, that were very very demanding, and exhausting! I focused all my efforts there, and I had no time or energy to take care of my nutrition or to exercise. During that time, as much as I could I was trying to lose weight mainly by eating within range but with not much success! I was spending most of my days at the campus, studying at the library and I would eat whatever was available at the coffee shop, and (as) you can imagine there were not many healthy choices!
Also as a student I am on a tight budget, and that creates one more difficulty for me. BEcause I think there is this thing, this triangle where we have HEALTHY, CHEAP, and FAST. So for every meal you can have only 2 of these qualities! so if you want to eat healthy you can have Cheap and healthy, but it requires time, or fast and healthy but then it would be more expensive. So... I had no money and no time I would end up with cheap and fast most of the time, ...cheap, fast and fattening!
But this has changed now! My money is still little, but my exams are over and I have much more free time to take care of my self , and to focus into adapting healthy habits at last add exercise into my schedule!
I really want to do this. I really want to lose these kilos, I gained them during this summer, during a very unpleasant period of my life, and I want to be able to fit into my clothes again.
I think SP can be a great help in that. I want to make a commitment and inform you about my progress at least once per week with a new video. Maybe I will keep a written blog too, but most of all I want to do the video version! I think ,because it is much more immediate it will give me a stronger motivation. If I know that people are really watching when I am talking about my progress, that will make me more determined to do well with my goals every week and come back to you with positive feedback!
