One walk at a time....physically pffffft!

Monday, April 08, 2013

Now that my shingles have just left me scabby and crabby, I realized on Sunday just how awful my physical condition is after a slow cold long winter of sitting on my fanny as much as possible! Ack!

It was dry and 65 degrees on Sunday so I walked alongside my disabled friend Kathy as she zoomed at speed 3 on her motorized chairmobile, and I walked or tottered along behind her until the 3/4 point with much huffing and puffing, and she said she would slow down to a 2 for me. Thanks a lot sister!

So officially physically pffffffft for spring. UGH!

So that was walk ONE about 10 minutes. Then today my husband dropped me off in town early so he could meet with a friend, and I got another 15 minutes in of walking, but not very fast.

It is time to build up my puny muscles again and start over.

Starting over is okay.
It is much better than giving up!!!

I second LindaK-- once you start, your muscles will respond and get used to walking again quickly. Soon you'll be whizzing along much faster than 3!

It's surprising how fast your body gets used to walking. You can do this. I've got to start walking more often and I've got to start strength training again. I've been doing some here and there, but not enough to count! I guess it's time to spring into action (pun intended).

The first few steps are the hardest. Keep on going and it will get easier. I have started over many times and there is nothing wrong with that. Just don't give up!
