2013 - A new beginning

Monday, April 08, 2013

I've said it many times, new year, new beginning. However, I don't think I've ever had the right tools to actually make a change.

2012 was a rough year for me, personally and professionally. I spiraled downhill pretty quick and found myself really down on all aspects of my life by the beginning of January. I had a long conversation with my mom (one that she forced) and decided I needed some help. In addition to taking a small dose of medication, my awesome older brother set me up with a personal trainer / nutritionist that works with the athletes he coaches. She has been the best gift/addition to my life. She has become more of a friend than anything else. She keeps me in check with my food and has actually taught me HOW to eat and WHAT to eat. She's been so patient with me as I find my way around the healthy stuff in the grocery store and (slowly) learn how to cook. She holds me accountable and makes me believe there are good things inside me that I can give to the world. Something no one else has been able to get me to see in several years.

In just 10 weeks I have managed to completely change what I am eating, try new food that I swore I would never touch and lose 29 pounds! I feel so confident in this process that I gave away all my winter clothes yesterday because I am confident they will be way too big by winter.

I love how happy I am and the way my future looks :)
