Insomnia: The Battle

Monday, April 08, 2013

So for the past month & 1/2 I've ben fighting insomnia. Most nights insomnia wins but I have a had a few nights where I've managed to get 3 hours of unstop sleep before waking up to spend the rest of the night reading books & cleaning. Surprisingly enough, when you know that sleep is not an option, you can get a lot of cleaning done cause you don't have to worry about going to bed in time to get enough sleep for the next day. My puppy hates the insomnia. He tries helping mommy sleep any chance he gets. He's tried being my foot warmer. He's tried curling up to my face so that I basically use him as a pillow. He's curled up on top of the covers behind my legs to try to pin me down. And when all that fails, he brings me his toy cause he figures he might as well take advantage of mommy being awake. Love my puppy dearly. The battle rages on this week but I'm determined to have at least 5 hours in 1 night. We'll see how I do.

I def recognize the pattern - and you will get through it. Seems like it cycles and the end of the cycle will come soon.

Of late, I've refused to give in and get up - I don't even open my eyes to check the time anymore - just lay not sleeping, planning the next day in GREAT detail and, sometimes, I've actually fallen back to sleep - mostly catnaps, but sleep is sleep sometimes.

Seems the more I ignore the insomnia, the 'weaker' it becomes. . .good luck!
