Really? REALLY??

Monday, April 08, 2013

Why is it that in our minds eye when we look in the mirror, we don't see ourselves as we really are? Whenever I see a picture of myself, all done without my knowledge of course, I flip out. Like who is that? That can't be me? I hate my picture taken for 2 reasons, I am not photogenic
and I don't recognize myself.

I am the same way. That is why I have hated to have my photo taken for so long, until SP and it has turned into giving me a reality check or something I can compare it to, when I get to my goal weight. I always get photos taken of me at worse times or bad angles too, by sneaky relatives! UGH!

LOL, I have had the "OMG it's my MOM" reflection phenomenon too many times in the past few years. Yes, in my mind's eye I see myself in my 20's. 20+ years younger than I am. The good thing for my mom is that I apparently see her in her 40's (my age) when she is in her 70's.

And she apparently sees me in my teens, cuz she STILL tries to tell/show me a "better way to do it".

Such is life, but better to be living it than not, eh?

Me too, I am shocked. I don't see myself well, healthy or fit.
I see myself old, sad and gray and still heavy and ill.

I can even catch a glimpse in a mirror and think oh my gosh it is my mom, when did I get old, saggy and fat. Inside I feel I am that younger fit person.

Reality can really suck...but true beauty is what we hold within ourselves...that keeps me hoping! LOL

Maybe we view ourselves from with in and we are the only ones who see the real 'us'. Also we usually look at ourselves in the mirror and only get a 'one sided' view.

He he-- deep question needs more contemplation--I'll just go look in the mirror !!!

It certainly is not the me of my mind's eye, but I recognize myself, unfortunately.

I don't know why that is, that we seem to see ourselves differently? Is there a real explanation for this? I feel I look the same as I did 20 years ago, and then I see a picture, Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhh
    h.
