Spring is truly here and the legs know it. Saturday was a sluggish, windy/chilly 8 miles at a local park and the legs were tired enough that I took yesterday off. Today, in t-shirt and shorts (!!!) and lovely low-wind weather with rested legs, I did my first outdoor speedwork session since before my extended down/reduced time. It wasn't earth shattering, but it did feel good to actually run hard for the first time in a long time. I even swung 3 sub 10:00 miles in a row with the 1:00 hard/1:00 easy intervals, which was reassuring in its own right.
Continuing on the path. Another drop on the scale to 148.4. I know there will be water weight losses, but I'd rather get that bump now and feel good at the journey's beginning - I already know there will be days, even weeks, of no movement ahead. And I know that it's not just the number - it's the feel and the fit. And I do notice some difference on the latter two - both in the mirror and in my clothes. All around, it's a definite move in the right direction.
Now to sustain it! On the bright side for sustaining, I've reset the mind for better eating and have the housemate engaged as he also is more carefully monitoring (luckily for me, since he saved me from what could have turned overboard yesterday). All I have to do now is keep going... That's all.
