It's time for round two. I did 100% paleo this last week. ON VACATION! Not just vacation, but vacation with 5 kids and a husband. I hit up the health food store as soon as we got into town, and stocked up on supplies. I made my own breakfast in the hotel room a few times when there was not enough paleo options at the breakfast offered. I made my own dressing so I could have a salad when the kiddos were eating burgers and fries
I was eating fairly healthy before so I didn't detox too terribly bad, but man was I cranky this week. I'm dubbing it Paleo PMS. My body is trying figure out what to do with this diet change. I am hoping I don't fizzle out at bootcamp this week.
All I know is I worked my tail end off at Bootcamp session 1 and I should have seen more results. This is part of the reason I switched to 100% paleo. The other part is that I was borderline eating disorder. The food obsession was out of control. Do I not eat because its late at night and not get enough calories, or do I eat this bad for me food because I forgot to eat all day so I can get enough calories, I hate food and Iam not hungry....and on and on. I didn't enjoy eating and there was pressure, and guilt I had never felt before about food. I had to put a stop to it.
The rules are - no grains, unnatural sugars , legumes, little to no dairy,
That's it. I can eat whenever I am hungry and not eat when I am not. Regardless of the time of day. You cannot comprehend how much pressure is off of me. Food is kind of fun again. You might be wondering what the heck I can even eat.
Last night I made a yummy spicy pineapple chili - sounds gross but taste amazing (beanless of course)
I am in love with raw coconut. It is soooo yummy. I used some coconut sugar some 100% coach giaradelli chocolate, and some raw nuts and made coconut nut clusters. Delicious. IMO kids want nothing to do with them because they don't taste really sweet, but they hit the spot for me when I want a treat. Lara bars (apple and banana) helped me out a couple of times on vacation when I was getting irritable.
It's funny how stuff that taste so good now would have been nasty to me a month ago. I asked for horseradish with my steak, and all they had was a horseradish cream I dipped my finger in in and almost gagged. Holy sugar batman...NASTY! I like to think I wouldn't have eaten that before, but I would have probably mindless eaten it.
The detox can be killer, and I figure it will be another couple of weeks before I am tip-top, but if the weight comes off, and I feel better its a win for me. I have been suffering terribly from PMS, and Ovarian cysts lately, during my research this week I discovered that this diet can help and even eliminate these symptoms. If that's the case, I will be Paleo for life.
My goals for Bootcamp round 2
1. Exercise minimum 3 days a week
2. Paleo for minimum 30 days, but plan on paleo for all 10 weeks
3. Lose 10 pounds, lose 10 inches
4. Run and finish a 5K (I am already signed up.)
5. Improve form
6. Be able to do a pull-up
7. Change my relationship with food
