Do you think you can do some physical things that you see on TV or on a movie or maybe in your mind remember something you did with your body years ago? I do! Do you think you can maybe do a Jumping Jack like when you were younger? I do! Do you think you have the stamina to exercise even if it is low impact as they do on TV or on a Video that we watch? I do! Well, wrong girlfriends!!!
As you know I have started the Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred a video showing Level 1, 2 and 3. So far, I have only viewed Level 1, not daring to even go to the other Levels. I am so determined to develop a lifestyle change with exercise, because as you know - I hate it! But, so far, I am so motivated that this has been fun for three days! Yes, my darlings - three whole days! I can’t believe I am even typing those words, because I usually last about 1 day and then go watch TV.
So this is my story! I went to YouTube.com as you know and found the 30 Day Shred video and saved it to my Favorites. I am so happy about this ‘freebee’ because it saves me money. I put on my new running shoes I bought at Kohl’s the other day - by the way, they were $55.99 and I saved $18.00 on them (well, that is another story, but had to let you know that as I love a great bargain). I was shopping with my daughter Patti and family up from NJ and my lower back was killing me. I just can’t get over this and they suggested I was buying cheap sneakers and headed me to the shoe department. My neighbor Pat told me the same thing - she said my shoes were poor ‘leather quality’. Of course, I am saying ‘What???’ So, I bought a beautiful pair of Nike Running Shoes and they fit like a glove. I also bought them in a wide width - my daughter telling me that the arch would fit better with a proper fit. The back pain went away! Go figure.
So back to my story - I started the 30 Day Shred with Jillian and the two girls with super trim bodies as the demonstrators - my girl on the right doing the low impact - I am following her. We start out with simple arm swinging to loosen up the chest muscles and the shoulder windmills to loosen up the shoulders and then drop down and do a modified push-up. So far, I am not doing to bad, but doing a modified push-up on bent knees, you really feel the fat on the back of your upper thigh. I’m just not going to go there right now with how I feel about the foregoing sentence! Anyway, then get back up again and repeat but, Jillian now throws in a Jumping Jack. What??? Oh yeah, I remember those - I can do that…NOT! I am here in my bedroom, looking at the Computer Monitor and start - wait I said start, the word should be tried to do the Jumping Jack with the slow moving, low impact girl. OMG what happened to that I can do anything attitude in my mind? Where did that positive thinking run off to? Where did that thought of I could do a Jumping Jack at the age of 71 go? What was I thinking - I must have had a senior moment or two!!! Well, I looked at Gracie who was watching me as she lay on her favorite spot - her blanket on top of my printer and I started to laugh. But, I was and am still determined to exercise - so I just swung my arms above my head going up and down with no foot movement - Hey! It is a start in the right direction - right?
