It's hard to start over, even after a few weeks!

Sunday, April 07, 2013

It's been a few weeks since I did much of anything on SP. Even my working out has fallen by the wayside. No good reason to speak of, just life in general. Allergy season has been kicking my butt, and the last 2 weeks have been HORRIBLE!!

I also learned that one of my best friends passed away in her sleep on March 16. I last saw her in October when my husband and I went to Kansas City for a visit. She'd been suffering from depression, and it seems that she lost her battle. Here is a photo of the two of us. Cherie and her husband were in Vegas for a visit. She's the lovely lady on the right.

It's been a rough few weeks but I'm getting back on track. I did a 3-mile Leslie Sansone walking workout and 30 minutes on my stationary bike today. I have another fun 5k coming up in a few weeks (the Bubble Run) and I would like to be able to jog at least part of it! I did learn today that, even though it's only been a few weeks, I am fairly sore after today's workout. NO MORE SLACKING OFF!!!

I am so sorry for your loss of a good friend. It's always difficult to lose someone we care about but especially so when it is too soon. You will get through this. Let yourself grieve.
Take non drowsy allergy pills every day and try to get back on track with slow and steady food and exercise. You'll be fine.

I hate allergy season. Mine usually peaks in mid May when I'm miserable.

I am so sorry about your friend! She was beautiful!! I had a friend die last year on March 10 so I can relate. I hope memories of her comfort you.

Good luck getting back up to speed.

Just a reminder. You are not necessarily starting over. You have learned a lot on your journey so far & all of us have detours in life.

So know about the allergies. When the allergist tells you that he thinks you've won the "most allergic" prize for the day & it is only noon, I just had to think to myself, why didi I put this off so long.

Oh no! So sorry about your friend. I guess we never really know what is going on inside another person - even our close friends can be suffering in silence. I really hate depression. I also suffer from it and have been on medication for 10+ years (it really helps me). Thanks for sharing this with us, I know it must be a shock to hear that kind of news. We are here and ready to lend you support and encouragement - hope you check back often and let us know how its going. Good luck on your 5K! My first one is coming up way too soon also! I tell myself that I can walk it if I need to. I just need to do it.

Sorry for your loss. A shame at such a young age. We had something similar happen to a 40 yr old inlaw March 18. The thing that kept me on track fitness wise was this exercise at least 10 minutes a day streak I am doing. It is totally motivating to me and continues to. Just a walk takes you away from everything.
