It Wasn't the Smartest Thing But it's Allright.

Yesterday we went out for dinner before going to the theater. I planned ahead and since I had a gift certificate for Applebee's decided to look on line for the menu and decide ahead of time what I would order. They have some very good choices under 550 calories so that should have been easy. Wrong! My first mistake was to order what I think they called a perfect Margarita which was good but later I found out it was 243 calories! I followed that up with a non diet entree of rice pilaf, deep fried shrimp and broiled shrimp along with some spinach. I took home half of the rice and the broiled shrimp which helped but I would have done much better sticking with my plan. I do follow the Weight Watcher's Points Plus program so I used some of my weekly points and don't have to feel guilty about it (although I do a little!) but next time my plan is no alcohol. Since I rarely drink that isn't much of a problem and should help as well as sticking to my original plan.

    Sounds like you had an enjoyable evening .It is really okay to let loose every once in a while and then get back on track. I think my head would explode if I was strict all the time. You did good kid emoticon You realixed you over indulged and you are back in the saddle today :)

    You're right; it IS alright! One meal does not sabotage us; it's what we do after. Remember, my mantra: "No mindless eating." Obviously this wasn't. It wasn't your plan, but it wasn't mindless either. You're back on track and fine. We have to have a lifestyle we can live with and not feel deprived. That said, I rarely drink and find that when I do, it does lessen my commitment to make healthy choices. You may see a difference on the scale just because it was food your body is not used to. Lots of water and give yourself a few days for your body to get back in balance. You are doing great!

    As a non-drinker, I find that it's a LOT easier to stick to a plan with that clearer head. Especially when confronted with easy choices, not all of them on plan.

    It's nice to be a little liberal now and then, Most and often for the nutritious things --little and seldom for the treats. I'd say you did well.

    Normally I would rather spend my calories on food than alcohol, but once in a while a yummy margarita is just a rare treat that we can enjoy. Now you've had it and next time it will be easier to stick to the plan. Not was all lost because you did bring half home.

    Well, your plan was good. And only eating half was good. It must had been the Margarita. I think we all deserve one little holiday but really need to get right back on the plan! You seem to have things under control with your weight.
