Rough Couple of Weeks

Sunday, April 07, 2013

I'd been doing so good. I had lost 16 pounds. emoticon Getting my exercise in emoticon I had more energy. Life was good.

Then the past 3 weeks hit. Between mother nature emoticon and then my little girl getting sick emoticon it's been a rough 3 weeks.

My walking got pushed to the side after a week of frigid temperatures followed by gloomy rainy days. Last Thursday was the first day in almost 2 weeks that we'd seen that big yellow ball in the sky.

My little girl was first shuffled to the doctor with what we thought was an ear infection, but turned out to be a lot of wax build up. She was congested, but he chalked that up to a small cold. Her doctor gave me a prescription for an antibiotic just in case her ear got worse. The next week she just got worse. She started running a fever, and was so congested that it was making her pukey. For 2 weeks she did not sleep through the night. We were all worn out. Finally on Good Friday I decided to get the prescription filled. She's 5 years old and had never been sick to need an antibiotic. I thought this is her first round ever on an antibiotic so what could it hurt.

We figured she must have had a sinus infection. Last Saturday night was the first time in 2 weeks that she slept through the night. She made great improvements. She was getting her energy back and her appetite slowly. I was able to start to walk again we had a couple of nice days. Then poor thing got a stomach virus. Thankfully that was only 24 hours. She is still slowly getting her appetite back.

We had put off our Family Easter Dinner until today because we had several family members sick (not just my little one.) There were still a couple who were suffering for the stomach virus floating around, but at least the worst of the ones (flu, strep, & sinus infection) are all better.

Since I am now not worrying about her I can get back on track. The weather is much nicer and I can get out and walk. I can also start back to tracking my food. I haven't even thought about it since she got sick.

My weight has kind of fluctuated the past 3 weeks, but it wasn't anything major. I have realized that as long as I track what I eat it helps hold me accountable in some ways.

I just hope that this nice pretty weather holds. It seems to lift all of our spirits after so many gloomy cold days last month.

    Dear SilverPhenyx,

It is always difficult to just live when a child is sick, let alone keep up with a weight loss program. I hope both the weather and your family's health cooperate in the near future. In the meantime, "ten mucho cuidado" means "take good care"! All the best!
