Looking Forward To A Good Week

My plan for today was to try circuit training again, but I ended up forgetting all about it. Oh well. I did 30 minutes on my exercise bike and 20 minutes of yoga, plus I took a ten minute walk with my mother and my dog.

I'm also trying to wear my pedometer and log my steps for the day. Of course, we all know that's not very accurate. I bought the cheapest pedometer I could find, so I should have expected that the act of clipping the pedometer on my pants would count as 3 steps. Too bad I can't wear it while getting into my bike shorts for exercise - THAT probably burns as many calories as 5 minutes of exercise.

I guess I'll wait until next weekend to try circuit training. At least I'm doing yoga again so I'm building some upper-body strength which will help when I start circuits again. And the bike takes care of my cardio, since I generally do some arm exercises intervals while pedaling (think jumping-jacks arms) I get my heart rate up pretty well.

I managed to not weigh myself this morning. It's probably bad, but I generally weigh myself every morning, even though I only record the results on Fridays, unless something great happens before then. I would love to see a 2 pounds loss this week to make up for the scale not moving for two weeks. Honestly, I feel okay about that, but it's still nice to see the number on the scale go down. I can now put on and take off the pants that I practically lived in when I was 311 pounds without unbuttoning or unzipping. It's a huge victory, and because of that, although I am 3 pounds shy of my 30 pounds lost reward, I got my new yoga mat anyway.

I've also really picked up the exercise this past week, so it's possible that I lost fat and gained muscle, which made me smaller but not lighter. Anyway, I feel like I had a good week. Today was a good end to my weekend. Now I need to set my goals for this week. I think my goals will be to try one new healthy recipe this week and to use my exercise bike 5 days for 30 minutes. I get a reward for each weekly goal reached, so for the healthy recipe, I get to go to Penzey's and buy some new spice blends (that trip to the mall will do double duty as a date with my fiancé, who, by the way, has still not started exercising). For the exercise, I get treat myself to a new DVD. Perfect, because I either read magazines or watch movies while on the exercise bike. It's good incentive to keep going!

I'm looking forward to a good week. I feel like I'm ready to meet all of my goals for the week. Actually, I feel like I can exceed all of my goals. This is a rare feeling. I'm going to try to hold on to it.
