I am stealing BrendaBunny’s idea and blogging the first Sunday of the month. She has found her groove and is doing great and I am going to follow her lead.

March was a blur and a reawakening. As hard as I tried not to, I succumbed to my usual winter blues and gained some of what I lost in November and December. I will weigh in tomorrow and see where I am. Monday weigh-ins. I like it. A great way to start the work week. Since I will be a little sad that the weekend is over, it will be a boost to see my progress. Tomorrow might not be so fun, but it will be my new starting point. I am starting some streaks:
• 8 cups of water emoticon
• Minimum 5 fruits & veggies emoticon
• 7 hours sleep emoticon
• 10 minutes of activity emoticon


I have been listening to the Spark on CD emoticon during my commute and it has helped my mindset tremendously and inspired me to recommit to my plan. Spark Guy knows his stuff. I thought I did when I started on this site FIVE (cough, cough) years ago. I really did not take going through all the steps that seriously. You see, I did not have to because I already knew everything (cough, cough – that must be why I was already so successful – NOT!). I looked at it as an awesome tracker and a supportive community that I could relate to. Too bad for me, because if I HAD taken it seriously, I could already be living the dream at my goal weight, full of energy and positivity. That said, if you have not done so already, treat yourself to reading or listening to the Spark. It will fill in the missing pieces for you.

I am working on a collage that I think I will keep in my car since I spend about 10 hours a week in it. The first pic I found was one of a very fit Caroline Kennedy splashing in the water. I selected this because I want to visualize something real. She is exactly my age. I am looking to be the best that I can be and I do not want to use images that are unattainable, i.e., that of a 20-something gorgeous beach babe. LOL I also want to be able to fit and move comfortably in a kayak. I am still looking for THAT pic. I want to be an awesome, fit Gramma when it happens. I want to travel more and I do not want to be embarrassed when (and I do believe it IS coming…) the airlines start charging by your weight.

I did a lot of cooking this weekend and stocked my freezer with healthy vegetarian meals and also used up a lot of stuff in my pantry and freezer. I like to rotate my stock and I need to try and deplete my freezer stock so I can defrost my little chest freezer. I made up a recipe today using a package of soup veggies and 3 small potatoes that had been around for a while. I hate to waste food or anything really, but I CAN and do throw stuff out. I’m not like a hoarder or anything. I’m actually quite the purger, but it bothers me to throw out produce because it is not cheap and I tend to sometimes overbuy it, so this is a solution for me. The soup I made is LOW SODIUM because I did not use anything canned and no bouillon – just water and low sodium V8. The Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy gives it a kick and flavor. The link is here:

    I think it's a great plan, and it has inspired me to pull out my Spark book again too. I found this last week to be a free fall. Lent is over, and we celebrate with all the foods that are so totally fattening and sweet. I felt better eating no sweets and I am ready to go back to that again.

Hope your weigh in today was okay. (I am up 3 pounds in a week!)

    Connie I think you are totally emoticon and I Thank you for acknowledging my changes this last 5 weeks that really Sparks me knowing that I have inspired someone else!
I know that you can do this it just has to be that thing that one thing that clicks its like how you did so great over the holidays I could of never done that emoticon .
And I agree with you on the Spark CD/Book I love it he is so inspiring and really put together a great program!
I also love the idea of your collage and putting pictures of real life women our age on it I bet if you googled something like "Fit women in their fifties" it would give you some others too.
Our Kashi go lean is good stuff huh? emoticon
Connie we are gonna do this its "our time my friend" and I will always be here for you & with you along our journey to a "healthy happy fit US"
My blog will be coming out tomorrow afternoon after I see Kate I wanted to wait the extra week so I could share anything she says that might help any of us.
