Time goes by......

Sunday, April 07, 2013

I was laying in my calm quiet space this morning, with the air blowing softly on me thinking how peaceful it was and remembering how simple things were for us back in the 70 and 80's when we had great times and music that could touch your innermost emotions.
We had songs like, Survivor, "Didn't know it was love", Giant, "Almost Paradise", Kenny Loggins, "Footloose" and many others!
We could drive down the road and there would be drive in theaters where you could go on a date and candy and popcorn didn't break your wallet. Even though back then us girls were still trying to watch our figures.
Then you have life at home that was simple. Moms and Dads loved one another and they stuck together because they loved each other!
Today, we have homes that are split. God is not in the center of a lot of these homes! We have music that I can't even understand! Maybe about two words out of the whole song. We still want to be loved, but in today's world, there are people out there that try so hard to hurt us! I see the timeline of my life and I wonder where all the time as gone. Do you ever wonder where your life would have gone if you had went another direction? Only God knows that for sure!
On a brighter note, we can still go to places like you tube and listen to our wonderful 80's music. We can still go to restaurants that look like those you would see in the tv show Happy Days. The days of drive in theaters are pretty much long gone, although we still have one locally in Springfield, Illinois, but it's a long drive for me to get to it. I miss days gone by! I know that some of my life is destiny and some of it is not, but whatever has happened to me has made me stronger and ready to face my goals ahead! emoticon

I like to relive some of these memories when I talk about them with my daughter. I see some of the pressures that my children have had to go through. I wish they had some of the simpler times that we had. I really believe times are much more different now than when we were teens, and not for the good.

The memories of days long past are special treasures for us - moving forward to be who you still can become is the nature of the journey though - looking back and remembering is bittersweet but don't get lost in yesterdays, not even the ones that made us who we are today. Look forward at all the good things still to come. (HUGS) Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
