Yesterday was supposed to be a springy day so hubby and I headed to the city. I think that everyone else in the area had the same idea; traffic was terrible. We passed the exit to the Zoo in Forest Park ( we figured it would take us forever to get off and probably would not be able to find a parking place) and decided to check out flowers at the Jewel Box (it's a huge hot-house) instead. Another strike against us; most of the bulbs have not come up and the wedding inside kept us from seeing the plants inside. Next, we headed to the Mo. Botanial Garden and it turned out to be a winner.
We stayed at the garden for hours. A lot of the bulbs are coming up and it is always fun to power walk around the back section (often it is almost empty back there). My favorite part of our garden visit was checking out the weddings. There were three at various places and it was really fun to watch the wedding parties and guests walk by. Some of the outfits that people wore were amazing and some were downright weird. My favorite wedding party wore black with lime green contrast colors; it was perfect for a spring wedding.
Hubby BBQed when we got home while I worked on trimming our roses. What a great day!
I think the area around the Zoo is worse since they redid the entrance and we try to avoid that as much as possible. We like to park over by the skating rink when we walk the park. The Botanical Gardens are a great walk so a nice back-up plan. With the beautiful weather yesterday I'm surprised it wasn't packed as well.
