Dropping the Ball and New Beginnings (Day 43)

Saturday, April 06, 2013

I was trying to blog everyday of the 5% challenge, but dropped the ball the last couple of days. It's been a whirlwind couple of days that have left me utterly exhausted. So, to recap or summarize...

Friday was my last day on the job with a company I've worked for 5 1/2 years. It was such a bittersweet moment that I nearly broke down and cried. I was told I was a class act and I have made a great group of friends.

Thursday I came home from work to find a note on my door stating that I had to do something about my dogs because my neighbor had complained about incessant barking. Well, as I type this, their dog is incessantly barking because they are not home either. Pot calling the kettle black. Anyway, it prompted me to decide to move out of my apartment and into a home. I have been living here for nearly 4 years and it is time to live in a house. So, on Friday I contacted a mortgage broker and was pre-approved for a mortgage within minutes! I was floored. So, I've contacted a real estate agent (who happens to be the man of my dream's, I'm not dating him...he's just the man of my dreams) and have started the ball rolling. I have 3 months before my lease is up, so keeping my fingers crossed.

The sad news is that I'm up a pound. Sigh. It was not my best week at all exercise or food wise. I know it is my fault and I'm going to make changes to do better this week. But today I spent the day either with my family playing with my youngest nephew who is about ready to take off walking any day now, or in the car looking at homes. Luckily, one of the homes was in walking distance.

I wwas up a pound anda half today... I was a little discouraged at first, but when Iconsidered all that was going on this week and that I was not able to get my exercise in or eat as healthy as I have been, I realized that maybe I should be happy it wasn't worse. I'm also in a "bloaty" week, so I'm hopeful that next week will not only show the fruits of a healthier week, but of losing some of that water. :-) Just gotta keep my head up and smiling!

I hope your house-hunting goes well. I've found having a house of our own gives me a much more "rooted" feel than when we rented. May youfind the perfect place for you and your furbaby to call your own!

With everything going on in your life this past week, I think only gaining 1# isn't bad at all! Hope your next week is better.

Be careful about how how you are approved for. The bank ALWAYS over approves. We were approved for twice what our budget could handle.
Secondly, don't forget to figure in taxes, insurance and upkeep.

Third - enjoy cause we LOVE LOVE LOVE our new home
