Boredom Eating

Saturday, April 06, 2013

This is the first blog entry I've ever done, so please forgive me if it's wrong lol.

I have been having a problem with overcoming boredom eating. Whenever my kids are playing or sleeping, I have a tendency to make myself something to eat. The worst part is that I always make to much, and I eat it all. I have devised a plan to only buy the amounts of food I need and nothing more. I hope this plan works.

A blog is a place for you to write anything and everything you want to say and get feedback from others. It's hard to do it 'wrong'.

You took the first step by realizing the problem - eating out of boredom instead out of hunger. Next, see if you can figure out what the triggers are and how to counteract them. Eventually, you will have changed. What if you drink 1-2 cups of water before grabbing any food? Maybe you could find a hobby or something to do instead of eating? You could even use that time to exercise instead of eating. You could also prepare pre-portioned snacks ahead of time, doing so right after a meal and using measuring cups will help keep them to a smaller size; then if you should choose to eat a snack, grab one that is ready to go and you won't end up eating too much.

Sounds like a good plan. Keep working on it you will get it.

There is no such thing as a "wrong blog" -- you can write about absolutely anything and everything!!! :D

Boredom eating is something that was really hard for me to overcome ... nothing easier than snacking while watching tv. Things that have worked for me are:
    1. pre-plan all meals and snacks before hand and stick to it! I always plan for a small protein snack before bed .
    2. Tea!! Red Velvet Cake Tea with 2 tbsp light cream satisfies my sugar craving!!
    3. Make a bunch of motivation cards -- why you want to lose weight, and read them right after your kids go to bed to remind you not to overindulge in snacks

You can do this! Hope that helped!
